Call for proposal Egypt-Europe Cultural Cooperation 2013 – reinforcing capacities and cultural cooperation in Egypt

 

The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to support the development of culture as a vector for sustainable, economic and human development.

The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals are to:

• Strengthen the role and capacities of the Egyptian cultural operators in order to make them more sustainable and expand their working programmes. A special focus on young talents and independent sector must to be sought OR

• Contribute to the diversity of cultural creation and the access to it. Projects eligible under this priority must target one or more of the following elements:

  • support to new talents and independent productions
  • access to a culturally diversified cultural offer, especially in marginalised regions and informal areas
  •  improved social participation in cultural production and consumption
  • • OR  Contribute to the use of culture as a tool for sustainable development, especially at the local level, seeking a specific impact in terms of job creation and eradication of poverty

 

Indicative eligible activities or topics (non-exhaustive list):

  • • Support to the configuration of vocational training programmes or other related activities contributing to the employability of the professionals of the cultural sector. Indicative topics:
  • professional and technical skills
  •  management and organisation capacities
  •  business skills development
  •  co-ordination and management of important cultural operations (in terms of size, scope and relevance), which could include the financing of a pilot international scheme or Egyptian nation-wide operations
  •  lobbying and awareness-raising to influence the formulation of public policies and private investments to improve the sector’s development
  •  reach-out and communication skills of cultural spaces and organisations
  • • Any other set of activities improving internal management structures, access to information and networking with other cultural operators / organisations
  • • Specialised assistance in issues related to management, organisation and planning of cultural institutions or cultural operators
  • • Activities related to the development of the capacities of institutions, operators and stakeholders in cultural heritage (tangible or intangible) management, promotion and appropriation
  • • Bringing contemporary arts to marginalised areas: creation of collaborative and creative cooperation with local communities contributing to sustainable development and bringing forward the importance of culture
  • • Bringing the arts to the core of everyday life in governorates with limited access to culture – locally produce artistic productions with the participation of prominent artists, new talents and local communities
  • • Promoting mobility of art and artists through the country and internationally by means of residences, setting up of joint travelling exhibitions, etc in the context of wider operations – especially taking into consideration new talents.
  • • Creating innovative cultural productions – from the preparation of workshops or any other preparatory activities for the conception of the artistic works, to their production, exhibition and further dissemination and presentation all over Egypt
  • • Organisation of conferences, seminars, panels and discussions (in which for instance international and national professionals would participate in an assessment on Egypt’s needs in the cultural sector or similar topics) may be considered as eligible activities provided that the action activities go beyond the organisation of these conferences
  • • Foster sustainable development of traditional art forms and handicrafts

 

Size of grants

Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:

  • • minimum amount: € 30,000
  • • maximum amount: € 60,000

 

Eligibility of applicants

  •  be specific types of organisations such as: non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, international (inter-governmental) organisations as defined by Article 43 of the Implementing Rules to the EC Financial Regulation or private companies
  •  be established in a Member State of the European Union or in any of the following countries:
  •  Egypt, or any other country benefitting from the European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Palestinian Authority of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the Russian Federation, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine)
  •  A Member State of EEA: Iceland, Lichtenstein or Norway
  •  Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia, including Kosovo.  This obligation does not apply to international organization and
  •   be legally registered in Egypt at the moment of submission of the application. This registration obligation does not apply to:

 

  •  international organisations
  •  diplomatic missions and/or cultural centres of the European Union Member States duly accredited in Egypt (provided that these cultural centres are integral part of the Member State diplomatic missions or covered by them

The deadline for the submission of Concept Notes is 30 June 2013

  2. i’ve been searching proposal announcement for Nepal but i can’t get.

      Dear Parmeshawar,

      Unfortunately, there are not too many European programmers who grant activities in Nepal. There are only a few. Once, a new call will be published I will inform you. Keep following the blog. I am sure that some grant could be interested also for you. Best wishes.
