The EIBURS programme provides grants to European University Research Centres working on certain research themes of major interest to the European Investment Bank (hereafter EIB or the Bank). The sponsorship is awarded through a competitive process to interested University Departments, Institutes and Faculties or Research Centres associated with universities (from now on “University Centres”) in EU or Candidate and Potential Candidate countries, with recognised expertise in the research theme in question. An EIBURS sponsorship entitles the beneficiary centre to obtain up to EUR 100 000 a year, for a period of three years, to develop activities in the selected research area, additional to those that would normally be carried out by the University Centre.
Only University Departments, Institutes and Faculties or Research Centres in EU or Candidate Countries and Potential Candidate Countries with a proper legal status in order to ensure that a sponsorship contract with the EIB can be signed are eligible for the EIBURS programme.
For the academic year 2013/2014, the EIBURS programme has selected two new lines of research:
1. Smart City Development: Applying European and International Experience to the Mediterranean Region
2.Administrative Capacity Bulding in Europe
Proposals should be submitted in English or French and the deadline for presentation of proposals is 13 September 2013 (by midnight, GMT time +1)
